Black
Box Flight Recorders for Business Critical Applications
Mutek's
solutions help maintain maximum application availability by
alerting IT staff to application errors, and by pinpointing
the root cause of those errors so that they can be fixed quickly.
Mutek's Black Box Flight Recorder for software operates for
business-critical applications much like an airplane's in-flight
recorder, however, it is often capable of alerting
system administrators before application and system failures
occur. The Black Box Flight Recorder transparently records
the online operation of applications and delivers system alerts
to the IT department about software and system irregularities
and errors, often before they significantly effect business
operations. No modifications are required to an enterprise's
applications or the system in integrating Mutek's solutions.
Mutek's solutions record application activity at multiple
levels, from the user's experience, through the system-level
operations and application performance and down to the program's
code lines executed by the running process. When there is
a software or system error, IT support can access the Black
Box Flight Recorder via the network and playback the error
scenario to pinpoint the root cause of the problem. Mutek's
Black Box Flight Recorder solutions include Black Boxes for
servers and clients, with front-end consoles for configuration,
root cause analysis, as well as Black Box management.
The
Mutek solution for the Sun platform complements the existing
suite of Sun eRisk solutions, which help its customers mitigate
the risk involved in establishing, upgrading and maintaining
mission-critical computing environments. By proactively monitoring
the system, the Sun eRisk portfolio of solutions helps IT
personnel ensure maximum application and overall system performance
by alerting the need to reconfigure when components are stressed.
"Companies
need to keep their businesses on track by identifying and
repairing IT problems at their source," said Doug Kaewert,
vice president, Market Development at Sun Microsystems, Inc.
"Important risk management partners like Mutek are critical
to Sun in delivering solutions for applications running on
the Sun platform that help our customers ensure maximum possible
availability."
"High
availability of applications provides a company with strong
competitive advantage but the complexity of the computing
environment is making it increasingly more difficult to maintain
availability and identify the root cause of problems"
said Yochi Slonim, president and CEO, Mutek Solutions. "Sun's
highly scalable and reliable platform together with Mutek's
Application Availability Management solutions will help customers
meet that challenge".
